WAR LETTERS is a special section of Nebraska Studies that contains 24 letters sent home during World War II.
The
WAR LETTERS program features letters written by American men and women
who fought, bled and died to preserve freedom throughout the nation's
history. The program was inspired by the "Legacy Project", a non-profit
organization in Washington DC that has collected over 50,000 letters
sent home from all American wars.
The letters presented here on our companion web site were selected from
the dozens sent to us by people from all over the state of Nebraska.
The letters provided on this site cover a range from as far back as
the Civil War and as recently as Vietnam. Nebraska Public Radio Network
(NPRN) Manager Steve Robinson developed and produced the program.
