Southern Parade Grounds: These are the Parade Grounds at Fort Atkinson as they appeared in the 1820s. The grounds were surrounded by four sets of barracks that housed over 1000 men. The arrangement was roughly square, measuring more than 450 feet on each side. The east barracks were not re-constructed.
